Here We Go! Lukaku Leaves Chelsea to Join Napoli

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the deal for striker Romelu Lukaku to leave Chelsea and join Napoli is nearing completion.

Romelu Lukaku has long been out of Chelsea’s plans. During the 2024 summer transfer window, the Blues were determined to sell the Belgian striker outright rather than loan him out as they did in the past two seasons.

Napoli emerged as the most eager suitor for Lukaku. After taking charge, coach Antonio Conte urged the Diego Maradona Stadium board to sign the 31-year-old forward.

Chelsea and Napoli have been actively negotiating in recent weeks, finally agreeing on a transfer fee of 30 million euros for the 1993-born player. Additionally, the deal includes 15 million euros in add-ons, depending on Lukaku’s performance at his new club.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has signaled “Here we go,” indicating that the deal is close to being finalized. Lukaku has scheduled a medical examination and is set to complete the final steps before being unveiled by his new team. The 31-year-old striker is expected to sign a contract with Napoli that will run until 2027.

Lukaku previously thrived under Conte’s management at Inter Milan during the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons, scoring 23 and 24 goals in Serie A, respectively. The Belgian forward played a crucial role in helping Inter Milan win the Serie A title in the 2020/21 season.

After successfully signing Lukaku, Napoli will focus on offloading Victor Osimhen. In the final days of the 2024 summer transfer window, the Diego Maradona Stadium club is prepared to sell Osimhen for around 70 million euros.
