Man United’s Next Signing

The Old Trafford side is striving to complete this summer’s transfer window in the best possible way.

Manchester United may not match Chelsea in the number of signings made, but the Red Devils have been one of the most active clubs in this summer’s transfer market. Evidence of this is their expenditure of nearly £150 million on four new signings.

So far, they have completed four deals, including Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee from Lille and Bologna, before finalizing a double deal with Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

Man Utd may not stop there.

The Red Devils are set to announce Manuel Ugarte as their fifth signing of the summer. The Uruguayan is ready to bolster Erik ten Hag’s midfield options. This transfer has cost Man Utd £42 million, bringing their total spending close to £200 million.

So, has Man Utd’s transfer plan been completed, or are more players coming in and out?

Signing Ugarte has been a priority for Manchester United for some time. However, Man Utd is not stopping there. They have also explored moves for two players discarded by Chelsea, Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell.

Sterling is even said to be “ready” to join Manchester United, despite his close ties with Manchester City. However, it remains to be seen whether Old Trafford will push to bring in these two signings after initial talks.

Chilwell emerged as a viable target for Man United earlier this summer. Man Utd had considered signing a new left-back due to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia’s recurring injury issues.

However, it seems that the deal for Chilwell is no longer being considered. Journalist Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed this information.

The pursuit of Ivan Toney is also unlikely at this point, despite Manchester United’s admiration for the 28-year-old player. The most likely scenario is that Man Utd will sign Sterling, closing the summer transfer window with six new additions.

Sancho is about to leave Man Utd.

On the other hand, Manchester United has agreed to a deal to sell Scott McTominay before Ugarte arrives at the Theatre of Dreams. The Scottish player, who has been with Man United since he was six years old, is now in Napoli to complete a £25 million transfer.

Hannibal Mejbri, a 21-year-old midfielder, has also left Manchester United to join Burnley on a four-year deal. This move has brought in about £9 million for Man Utd. The funds from the sales of McTominay and Mejbri will help cover the cost of the Ugarte deal.

Finally, Ten Hag wants the club’s owners to offload Sancho before the transfer deadline, after leaving the winger out of Man United’s first two Premier League games of the new season.

According to The Athletic, Sancho is likely to leave Old Trafford this summer.

While Chelsea has shown great admiration for the player, Juventus is said to be leading the race for Sancho’s signature.
