Inter Milan star: “The Italy national team is now much more confident”

Center-back Alessandro Bastoni couldn’t hide his joy after Italy’s 2-1 victory over Israel in the Nations League.

Italy’s national team continues their strong form in the Nations League. After defeating France 3-1, they secured another win, 2-1 against Israel this morning.

Goals from Davide Frattesi and Moise Kean secured another 3 points for the Azzurri. Following their disastrous performance at EURO 2024, Luciano Spalletti’s team is making a strong comeback in the Nations League.

Bastoni started in both of Italy’s last two matches.

Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni expressed his excitement about the team’s performance in the past two matches. Speaking to RAI Sports, he said:

“After the win against France, Italy knew we had to build on the positives. Now, we feel much more confident and stronger.

The whole team wants to keep pushing forward and forget the shame of EURO 2024. That tournament was truly a shock. We approached it with the wrong mentality.

That was the responsibility of the entire team. But now, Italy is ready to leave everything behind and start fresh.”

Bastoni started both of Italy’s recent matches. Against France, he played as the central defender in a three-man defense for the Azzurri. In the match against Israel, the Inter Milan player was positioned as the left-sided center-back, replacing Riccardo Calafiori, who was sidelined due to injury.
