Michael Dawson Surprised Chelsea Hasn’t Signed a Striker

Former footballer Michael Dawson admits he is surprised not to have seen any transfer moves from Chelsea.

Chelsea entered the new season with two traditional strikers in their squad: Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu. This has left former center-back Michael Dawson surprised that the Blues have not yet brought in a quality forward like Ivan Toney.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Michael Dawson commented, “I will be very surprised if Toney is still a Brentford player when the transfer window closes.

When he was left out of the squad last week, it surprised me, especially with the new signing Igor Thiago out with a long-term injury. Brentford is trying to make money because Toney is entering the final year of his contract.

Toney is a transfer target for Chelsea.

I’m a huge fan of Ivan Toney. I can’t believe another Premier League club hasn’t come in for him. Chelsea, for example, they are the team willing to sign everyone.

If you sign Toney, you will get goals. Twelve months ago, people were talking about him being an £80 million player. However, the fact that Toney still hasn’t found a new club is slightly disappointing. The EPL is currently lacking exemplary strikers like him.”
